Gutter Kitties Volunteer Agreement

Thank you for volunteering with Gutter Kitties!

We’re so grateful for your help supporting our rescue cats and kittens. To ensure the safety, wellbeing, and smooth running of our rescue, please read and agree to the following terms.

1. Purpose

This agreement outlines the expectations, responsibilities, and conduct required of all Gutter Kitties volunteers. It is not intended to create an employment relationship, but rather a mutual understanding between Gutter Kitties and its volunteers.

2. Volunteer Conduct & Responsibilities

As a volunteer with Gutter Kitties, I agree to:

• Treat all cats, kittens, other volunteers, and members of the public with respect, kindness, and care.

• Follow all instructions and guidelines given by Gutter Kitties coordinators.

• Act responsibly, safely, and in the best interests of our cats and the rescue at all times.

• Maintain confidentiality regarding private information about Gutter Kitties, its volunteers, foster homes, and adopters.

3. Authority & Decision-Making

To ensure consistency and safety for all cats in our care:

• I will not accept or take in any cats or kittens without prior approval from an authorised Gutter Kitties coordinator.

• I will not arrange or approve veterinary visits or treatments without prior approval from a coordinator.

• I will not authorise adoptions, foster placements, or surrenders on behalf of Gutter Kitties unless specifically directed to do so.

• I will not use the Gutter Kitties name or represent myself as an official spokesperson for the organisation without permission.

4. Communication & Social Media

To protect the reputation and privacy of the rescue:

• I will not post photos, videos, or information about Gutter Kitties cats, kittens, volunteers, or operations on social media without prior approval from a coordinator.

• I will not create or manage any public pages, groups, or fundraising campaigns using the Gutter Kitties name or logo unless authorised.

• All media, marketing, and public communication must go through the approved Gutter Kitties channels.

5. Donations & Fundraising

• I will not solicit or accept donations, sponsorships, or gifts on behalf of Gutter Kitties without prior approval.

• Any donations received must be handed over promptly to an authorised Gutter Kitties representative and recorded accurately.

6. Animal Care & Safety

• I will ensure all cats and kittens in my care have clean, safe environments, appropriate food, water, and enrichment.

• I will follow all medical, quarantine, and socialisation instructions provided.

• I will notify a coordinator immediately of any illness, injury, escape, or concern regarding a cat or kitten in my care.

7. Health & Liability

• I understand that working with cats involves inherent risks, including bites, scratches, or allergic reactions.

• I agree to take reasonable precautions to protect myself and others.

• I release Gutter Kitties, its coordinators, and associated parties from any liability for injury, illness, or damage incurred while volunteering, except in cases of proven negligence.

8. Ending Volunteering

• Either party may end this volunteer arrangement at any time, with or without reason.

• Any Gutter Kitties property (including cages, carriers, supplies, paperwork, or cats) must be returned immediately upon request.

9. Agreement

By signing below, I confirm that I have read, understood, and agree to follow the above terms as a Gutter Kitties volunteer. I understand that failure to comply may result in the end of my volunteer role.
