The Paw Pad (located in Stanmore Bay, Auckland) was created to enable placement of unsocialised adult cats straight off the streets to allow them freedom and space, but also enable taming. These rescues have either forgotten how to interact with humans, or have never experienced a human bond. Once settled and trusting of humans, they are moved into foster homes, to prepare them to find their forever homes.
VOLUNTEERING AT OUR SHELTER
Our volunteering positions are a set time every week, and you can expect to be at your shift for 2-3 hours. Our current shift times are:
8am, 10am, 1pm, 4pm and 7pm.
This ensures at all times there are clean litter trays, food and water is clean and full, beds are clean, and the shelter is in a constant clean and tidy state. It also allows lots of interaction with our residents which is very important for their socialisation.

With an average of 50-60 residents at any one time, our expenses are huge. Please consider sponsoring one of our Paw Pad rescues from just $5 per week.
FOSTER HOMES NEEDED
Once our rescues are socialised, they then move into a foster home to socialise them in a family environment and prepare them for adoption. Fostering our Paw Pad rescues is hugely rewarding.
Please email tracey@gutterkitties.co.nz for a foster home application if you are interested in being part of the amazing journey for one or more of our rescues to find love, acceptance and a forever home.
